Improve Your Self-Esteem With Counselling Services From KMA Therapy

What is self-esteem?

Self-esteem represents the overall beliefs we have about ourselves. Low self-esteem affects all aspects of our lives including our relationships, career, and family situations. Having low self-esteem can make us feel unworthy to want or ask or demand for change in your current position in life and yourself.

Self-esteem issues arise from many different areas such as:

  • Our upbringing and family situation
  • Past family dynamics
  • Negative self-talk- Negative talk about our bodies
  • Career
  • Past Abuse

Self-esteem counselling will help you a lot in the area of self-esteem, particularly with CBT (Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy). At KMA Therapy you will find out what the root problem is of your issue and your KMA Therapist will develop treatment plans so that you can take back control into your life and how you see yourself.

You will get the control back through:

  1. Developing resources and tools to change your current environment
  2. Change your negative thought patterns and negative self-talk to positive thought patterns and positive self-talk
  3. Promoting psychologically healthier patterns of living

At KMA Therapy, we have specific treatment methods specifically for self-esteem, which involve mostly CBT (Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy).

The first step is taking the 30 Minute Intake Session with a psychotherapist.

You will be asked your issue(s) and we will see which counsellor will fit your personality and your need the best. Within the 30 minutes you would have set goals, and how the approach to your issue will work, as well as, the treatment and the duration of regularly sessions.

Self-esteem therapy requires a lot of work, devotion, and homework from both the therapist and you, the client. In therapy, we dig to the root of the issue - which usually involves identifying where your core beliefs came from (whether family, personal, or history, etc) and then focus on lowering your generalized anxiety as well. We work to improve your positive self-talk and eliminate your fear of making decisions. We want you to feel confident with all the decisions you make - and hold your head high without having to worry that things will go wrong, people won't like you, etc.

The second step of self-esteem therapy is having regular weekly sessions for your assigned duration time with your therapist.

You will work through your treatment plan, achieve your goals and objectives that you discussed in the consultation session.

The last step is finishing and evaluating.

You will be in for a last consultation appointment to see how you have developed throughout the program and see if you're struggling with your problems or not. If you aren't you will stop your sessions, but if you are still struggling you will continue your sessions until you feel you have reached all your goals and objectives. Once all your sessions are completed you will be given reading materials to help you and if you wish to come back for a check-in session, you can just call and book an appointment. A check-in session is if you wish to talk about how you're doing and what you've accomplished after having therapy sessions.
