Couples counselling can provide benefit to even the most compatible couples. Confronting your issues as a couple is a difficult task, and sometimes you may feel anxious and uncomfortable about starting. Sometimes partners have different feelings about or expectations - that, for instance one partner may be more enthusiastic or at ease with the situation than the other.
Counselling and Psychotherapy can provide lasting change in your relationship. Couples therapists at KMA help you explore the root causes of what is affecting your relationship. At KMA, we provide a safe and neutral environment for both parties, where it is possible to navigate through the issues in a constructive way. We offer a third point of view in order to help you to see the situation from a different angle - as opposed to deciding who is 'right' or 'wrong'. Couples therapy is solution focused and productive, allowing you and your partner to achieve results after a minimal number of sessions.
Couples Counselling here at KMA Therapy begins with a 30 minute intake with our director, Kimberly Moffit, or one of our intake counsellors.
During this intake session, Kimberly or the intake counselor will ask important questions to determine the nature of the problem and the treatment approach necessary for you to achieve your goals. We’re also asking questions to get a better sense of your personalities becuase here at KMA, we believe it’s very important that your counselor is the ‘right fit' for you. The intake is a wonderful time to address any questions you may have.
At the end of the intake we will set you up with a customized ‘plan of action’ – this includes the recommended couples counselor who is best equipped to suit your needs, the expected duration of therapy (if applicable), and a recommendation for any additional testing or psychological services we feel would be helpful.
The fee for 30 minute intake is $120 and this is usually covered by your workplace benefits package.
All subsequent couples sessions are 50 minutes in duration.
