Grief refers to the feelings you experience when you have a loss. These include sadness, emptiness, anger, loneliness, despair, fear, and desperation. When we experience grief, loss, or bereavement, there are physical and emotional responses which include: physical pain, numbness, apathy, withdrawal, disbelief, confusion, panic, fear, anxiety, despair, guilt, regression, irritability, obsessive thinking, and denial.
Counselling and Psychotherapy is aimed at helping you deal with your grief and find closure. Grief and Loss therapists at KMA help you develop coping skills for what is inevitably a very difficult time in your life.
Psychotherapy and Counselling here at KMA Therapy begins with a 30 minute consultation with our director, Kimberly Moffit, or one of our intake counsellors.
In these thirty minutes, we will ask important questions to determine the nature of the problem and the treatment approach needed. We’re also asking questions to get a better sense of your personality. Here at KMA, we believe it’s very important that we get to know you so that your counselor is the ‘right fit. The consultation is also a wonderful time to address any questions you may have.
At the end of the consultation we will set you up with a customized ‘plan of action’ – this includes the recommended grief counselor who is best equipped to suit your needs, the expected duration of therapy (if applicable), and a recommendation for any additional testing or psychological services we feel would be helpful.
The fee for 30 minute consultations is $120 and this is usually covered by your workplace benefits package. All subsequent sessions are 50 minutes in duration.
- Grief and Bereavement Counselling in the Workplace: It can be hard losing a beloved team member of your workplace and it can often times be difficult to cope with the loss and grieving process. This workshop will help you and your team to understanding bereavement, grief, and loss, and the various ways we might experience it, coping skills, and how to find closure and acceptance.
